Nestled in the heart of scenic Pennsylvania, Lancaster PA is also known as the Red Rose City. One amazing fact about the city is that it was the capital of the United States just for one day. The historic city of Lancaster, known for its strong work ethic and community spirit, won the All-America City Award in 2000 for its outstanding community-building programs. The city of Lancaster offers many small towns that still retain that unique small town charm. Lancaster PA is also the seat of Franklin and Marshall College and a theological seminary, and it is noted for its large Amish and Mennonite communities.

History of Lancaster can be traced back several thousand years. Each epoch has left some noticeable enrichment to this cosmopolitan city. City of Lancaster has been a major industrial and commercial center for a productive agricultural county like Pennsylvania. City’s chief products are livestock, poultry, grain, potatoes, soybeans, alfalfa, apples, and dairy items. Manufacturing includes electrical, concrete, and aluminum products; security and medical equipment; automotive parts; and food products. It has a reputation for food, delicious family style dining, All-You-Can-Eat Smorgasbords, as well as fine dining and family restaurants are some of the features of this pulsating city.

The city has many tourist sights. Overlooking the city is the huge Williamson Park which is home to the Ashton Memorial, a tropical Butterfly House and several outdoor theatre-in-the-park productions. Other highlights include the Victorian neo-gothic St. Peter's Cathedral, mediaeval Lancaster Castle, the classic Georgian architecture, the grand Victorian cathedral or the wonderful folly of the Edwardian Ashton Memorial and the ancient Priory Church of St Mary the Virgin. Lancaster PA is an incredible place for cycling and is proud of its widespread cycling network. The city is one of just six places in the country to be named a 'cycling demonstration' town. It encourages many tourists to get out on their bikes and enjoy all the benefits cycling fetch.
