Kingston is a comely city of southeast Ontario, Canada, on Lake Ontario near the head of the St. Lawrence River. It was founded by Loyalists in 1783 on the site of Fort Frontenac, a crucial defense point in the French and Indian Wars. The city of Kingston was the capital of Canada from 1841 to 1844. The city of Kingston Ontario is very rich in terms of relics and antiquities. The city of Kingston Ontario is a familiar destination for fresh-water wreck diving. Certain wrecks of Kingston can be ranked among the best fresh-water wrecks in the world. These wrecks are well conserved by its cool fresh water. The city is also famous for its fresh-water sailing. It had also hosted the sailing events for the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Many historic buildings of the city was built from limestone, hence city of Kingston Ontario got its nickname as the "Limestone City". From the heights of historic Fort Henry, you view a landscape forged by tradition, the story of centuries written across it in sweeping prose, and you can experience that heritage first hand at one of Kingston’s many fascinating museums. Kingston is the seat of Queen's University (1841), of the Royal Military College, and of Anglican and Roman Catholic bishoprics and cathedrals. The city of Kingston is also a hot destination for fresh-water-sailing and wreck diving.
