Ukraine Food

Ukrainian food is absolutely flavorsome. A lot of fat ingredients are used to prepare traditional cuisines especially in the festive dishes. Traditional local food includes "salo" which is salted lard. Some other traditional food in Russia includes shashlyky, varenyky, deruny and borshch among others. National specialties of Russia include:

• Pirozhky (fried rolls with fillings).
• Kasha (porridge) is a staple breakfast food, made with milk and oats, buckwheat or semolina.
• Blini (small pancakes filled with caviar, fish, melted butter or sour cream).
• Pelmeni (meat dumplings).
• Ponchiki (hot sugared doughnuts).
• Borshch (a beetroot soup served hot with sour cream).

Among the famous Russian drinks we have:

• Nastoika is a fortified wine made of herbs, leaves, flowers, fruit and roots of plants with medicinal properties.
• Vodka (flavored with herbs and spices, ryabinovka, starka (dark, smooth, aged vodka) and pertsovka.
• Chai (sweet tea served without milk).
• Nalivka (sweet liqueur made with fruit or berries).
• Krushon.
