Surin Thailand covers an area of 8,124 square kilometers and is divided into 13 districts and 3 Sub districts. The city has been an elephant's habitat since ancient times and the local townspeople of Surin are skilled in rounding up, training and controlling elephants. The famed 'Elephant Round-Up' was first held in 1960 and since then it become eminent among both Thai and foreign visitors. The Surin Elephant Round-Up has been scheduled to take place annually during weekend around mid November. The fair is believed as an international annual event which attracts a number of visitors from different corners of the world. Moreover, Surin Beach is the other reason for the flow of travelers to the city. To accommodate them, the city has an excellent arrangement of accommodation and Surin Beach Restaurants.

However, there are other highlights that one should not miss during their Surin Tour.
Phanom Sawai Forest Park is a must visit whose major attraction is a triple-peaked hill with the first peak called Phanom Preah where Wat Khao Phanom Sawai was built among shady environs and the image of the Buddha bestowing favors known as Phra Phuttha Surin Mongkhon is preserved. The second peak is Phanom Srei topped by a Buddha image of medium size. The third, Phanom Krol, is topped by an eight-porched hall in which an imitation of the Buddha's Holy Footprint is enshrined. The hill has been regarded a sacred place by the townspeople who on the first day of the new moon in fifth lunar month walk up to the hilltop to pay homage to the place.

Built in 1968, the 3-meter Surin City Pillar Shrine is also a treat to watch. It is carved from an auspicious laburnum wood from Kanchanaburi. On the other hand, the 2.2 meter bronze statue of Phraya Surin Phakdi Si Narong Chang Wang is also worth visiting. Besides, Huai Saneng is a reservoir under the irrigation project. Luang Pho Phra Chi is known for the image of the Buddha.
