About Sweden Sweden Cities Sweden Hotels Sweden Travel Guide

Sweden enjoys a continental climate, and Sweden climate is generally temperate due to the influence of offshore Gulf Stream waters. Although, there are variations found from medium to large in temperatures between summer and winter. As expected the Sweden climate is milder, as like most of Scandinavia it's warmed by the Gulf Stream. The months of May through July are the most popular times to visit as days are pleasant, often sunny, with average high temps in the mid-70's. Mid-60's are common in the north and western mountains. Late fall days are crisp and cool, and easy to enjoy.

The climate map of Sweden shows, winters are very cold, and most of the Norrland experiences cold temperatures for about seven months. There are 3 months of summers, while the southern region of Skane has a short, cold winter of only two months with a four month long summer. The days are likely to be shorter and heavy frosts and snowfalls can be projected. In the mountain regions of the country of the far north, summer temperatures rarely cross 50°F, and much colder conditions and snow are possible at anytime. Winter travel can be difficult in the north and in all of the western mountains. It is advised to make beforehand reservation for skiing and snowmobiles.

On the climate map of Sweden the rainfall occurs in the months of August and September, with the highest amount falling in the southwest. Sweden being situated above the Arctic Circle the summer sun never completely sets and days are long and bright, while winter days across much of Sweden are shorter, and available daylight is muted and less intense. For visiting Sweden, travel can be enjoyed all the year round, but the warm and pleasant summers are perhaps more bearable for some visitors.
