Sri Lanka Climate

Sri Lanka is located between 5 and 10 north latitude resulting in Sri Lanka climate being typically tropical with the average temperature hovering around 27°C. It is cooler on the higher altitudes. The country receives south west monsoon mainly in the months from May to July to the western, southern and central parts of the island. The north-east monsoon brings rain to the northern and eastern regions during the December and January months. Therefore, period between November and April is the best time to visit this region and this period is also considered as tourist season in Sri Lanka.
