Nestled in the northeast of Spain on the Bay of Biscay, San Sebastian is the undisputed queen of Basque resorts because of its picturesque coastline. It has three beaches - the Playa de la Concha, Ondaretta and the Playa de Gros. The most popular beach in San Sebastian Spain is La Concha, with a wide crescent of sand stretching around the bay, but it's also the most crowded. Ondarreta beach at the foot of Mount Igeldo gives you an aristocratic feel to it because of the villas and gardens that lead to the sand. The profound, static aqua bay and glittering San Sebastian beach surrounded by lush, rolling hills has drawn celebrities and sun lovers to the mild winters and hot summers for generations. San Sebastian is a humdrum of boutiques, surf-shops and nightclubs, but the highly structured boardwalk and extravagant historic mansions lend an air of sophistication. Tourists can enjoy a ride on the funicular to the top of Monte Igueldo to get a spectacular view of the sea and countryside. Another attraction is when you stroll through sheltered woods to the summit of Monte Urgull you get to see a statue of Jesus blessing the city. Remarkable primitive Basque artifacts and a few dinosaur skeletons are displayed in the town’s Museo de San Telmo. On the map of San Sebastian you can notice it lies against the Bay of Biscay and is surrounded by green mountains. The weather San Sebastian is the primary reason why people head towards San Sebastian in the summer months as the place allows them an escape route from the inland heat. Accommodation San Sebastian is the ideal base from where one can explore the Basque Country. A visit to San Sebastian Spain is incomplete without a visit to the old quarter (Parte Vieja). It is here that one will come across a lot of the traditional local life. One can enjoy a god time in the huge number of bars and restaurants found here. The Basilica of Santa Maria del Coro, patron saint of the city is another chief attraction. There are many monuments to explore in the city, such as the Cathedral.
