Staffa Island

A natural wonder, the Staffa Island is in possession of the National Trust for Scotland. Gigantic hexagonal basalt posts rise out of the sea to form a string of grottos, one of the most noteworthy caves is the dazzling Fingal's Cave, which looms out of the sea like a imposing pipe organ.

Botanic Gardens

This is a very peaceful and serene place that will carry you to a different world all together. The greenery around the garden is truly were soothing. The forested patch of the Botanical gardens can be sited in the vicinity of the River Kelvin which makes it an ideal spot to discover some of the rare tropical species.

Italian Chapel

Located on the tiny island of Lamb Holm, the Italian Chapel was erected by the POWs who were basically Italian soldiers and used to work on the Churchill Barriers. They built this chapel in their leisure time, making use of two Nissen huts, metal scraps and their exemplary creative faculty.

John Knox House

This is the most ancient existing apartment building in Edinburgh. Dating back to as late as 1490 this house is exquisite. The interiors of the house has strikingly beautiful wooden carved ceiling. On exhibition you will find attention-grabbing memorabilia belonging to Knox.

Museum of Edinburgh

This famous museum puts on display the city's history from prehistoric times to the present. Built in the year 1570 the museum of Edinburgh exhibits the original copy of the National Covenant of 1638.

Calanais Standing Stones

The erection of the dazzling Calanais Standing Stones set in motion roughly about 5000 years ago. As old as the famous Egyptian pyramids, these are quite a crowd puller. Unlike Stonehenge, Calanais is one of the complete stone circles in Britain.

Holmwood House

Constructed in the year 1857, the Holmwood House was designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson. The symbols of stars upstairs and sun downstairs are very interesting.
