Stirling

City of Stirling is one of the Scotland’s historic cities and the heritage capital city of Scotland. This modern flourishing city was once the capital of Scotland and is even today called as the ‘doorway to the Highlands’. The country’s youngest city is busy, confident and fun, and importantly one of the most attractive places to live in the UK, with its unique atmosphere of historic and contemporary. In the heart of the city, one can still feel the ancient town, giving Stirling Scotland its unique and historical appearance. Stirling has a wide range of visitor attractions to offer. Moreover, the city has a rich heritage, with home to some of Scotland's most important historical sites. Important tourist sites include the famous Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and the Bannockburn Heritage Centre.

The city has become more popular by the Mel Gibson’s ‘Braveheart’ film and the city’s status as a tourist attraction has increased. Stirling castle is the landmark of the city drawing on average 400,000 visitors each year. The castle has become the center for large-scale events, historical plays and pop concerts. The castle has witnessed performances by artistes Bob Dylan, REM and Ocean Colour Scene and the famous Scottish band Runrig played their 30th birthday concert at the castle. Of late, the city has some of the best places for arts and nightlife. Though a historical city, the city isn’t looking backwards, having a mixed community of locals, students and tourists, inviting shops and leisure areas, the city has also has a modern, cosmopolitan edge offering a broad and distinctive appeal.
