St. Petersburg

The renowned Saint Petersburg is the second largest city of Russia and is often called the Northern Capital of Russia. Interestingly, it is the fourth largest metropolis of Europe. The city of St. Petersburg Russia is located at the easternmost region of the Baltic Sea and the River Neva. Formerly the city was known as Petrograd, and then later was called Leningrad. Considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, St. Petersburg is very much at par with the city of Venice and Paris. Its exquisiteness and charm has made it a brand itself. The city of St Petersburg was founded by Peter the Great. Earlier St. Petersburg served as home to the Czars and today it has become the heart of Russian culture. Since the fall down of the Soviet Union, the city has rapidly raised and made its way up to become the most multi-ethnic of Russia's cities. On the cultural and artistic front, St Petersburg Russia is a class apart. From the White Nights festival during summer to theater and ballet events and shows and concerts during wintry evenings, the city offers a vivacious cultural life that is absolutely bewitching.
