Sochi City

Sochi is famously known as the Russian resort city, which is located in Krasnodar Krai in the northern region of the southern Russian boundary. It lies along the coasts of the Black Sea against the backdrop of the awe inspiring snow-capped points of the Caucasus Mountains. At a height of 145 km, the region of Greater Sochi is said to be the highest city in the continent of Europe. The city has been chosen to host the XXII Olympic Winter Games in the year 2014.The finest attraction of Sochi Russia is its subtropical climate, lush parks, ancient monuments, and marvelous Stalinist architectural wonders. Sochi is a multiethnic city that comprises of around 400,000 inhabitants belonging to more than 100 ethnic groups. Also known as the Russian Riviera, Sochi boasts of a rich heritage. The city of Sochi is best known for being nation’s chief Black Sea port city, resort destination and as a well-known cultural hub.

Every year about two million people come to visit Greater Sochi during summer to be a part of its well known annual film festival - "Kinotavr" and experience its rich culture.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, is located to the northern region from the city. A large region of Sochi is covered with tea plantations. Sochi is an ideal place to hit if you are a winter sport buff. Here you can indulge youself in many winter activities like sledging, skiing among others.
