| Jeronimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jeronimos) | ||||
This unique sixteenth century monastery was built by Dom Manuel I in honor of celebrating the discovering of the sea route to India. The building symbolizes Portugal’s period of wealth and conquest. A very important building of the country it has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. |

| Monument to the Discoveries | ||||
The statue near the Tagus River made of great limestone is a commemoration of Portugal’s Age of Discoveries to immortalize the historical figures of the Portuguese sailors who set sail to explore the world and had a prominent presence during that period of history. It opens in July and August from Tuesday to Sunday between 9.30am to 9 pm. From September to June it opens on the same days between 9.30 to 5 pm. |

The first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques (1109 – 1185) built what is the first church in Lisbon. The interior form is of a Latin cross with three naves and the features present are a store house of treasures. You will find here the font where St. Anthony of Padua was baptized in 1195 as well as numerous notable relics, images and icons. |
