Noway Climate

 

The climate of Norway is something of a cold and wet climate. Even then the Norway climate is pleasant and friendly. One will find a lot of variations in the climate of Norway. From the southernmost point to the northernmost point, there is a span of 13 degrees of latitude. There is also a great variation in the received solar energy during the year. One unique aspect of the climate is that in Northern Norway there is midnight sun in the summer months and no sunshine at all during the winter.

A closer look at the country’s climate reveals that the highest annual temperature is to be found in the coastal areas of the southern and western part of Norway. The Finnmark Plateau is where will experience the coldest climate apart from the mountain areas. There are large areas in the mountains where the annual temperature is -4ºC or even less.

The climate of Norway experiences an increase in solar energy during the springtime which eventually melts the snow cover and the land areas get warmed up faster than the sea. The summer months are warm. At the time of the midnight sun, Northern Norway witnesses temperatures above 30 ºC. As a result of the very low winter temperatures and high summer temperatures, the Finnmark Plateau holds the distinction of the largest recorded difference between the highest and lowest temperature recorded.
