The tourist attractions in Norway are varied and range from medieval cathedrals and buildings to street music and cultural activities and mountainous islands. Visitors to this beautiful country will not be at a disadvantage with regards to the Norway attractions.

Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim

Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim
This has been given the distinction of being Norway’s national shrine and is also the largest medieval building in Scandinavia. The construction work was commenced as early as 1070. There are rows of ornate biblical, religious and royal stone statues adorning parts of the cathedral. The stained glass windows are magnificent as well. A visit in the summers will expose you to a view of the Norwegian Crown Jewels which are on display.

   
Lofoten Islands Tromso
This lovely cheery town is known as the ‘Gateway to the Artic’ where the attraction is the street music, cultural activities, many bars and restaurants. The country’s best brewery is also found here. One will be able to see some wonderful scenery with snow-capped mountains. A must visit is ‘The Northern Lights Planetarium’ which is Norway’s first virtual planetarium which houses lots of visual and special effects.

These are a cluster of mountainous islands situated about 60 miles above the Arctic Circle on the Norwegian coastline. One will be pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the islands which have been inhabited for more than 6000 years. One will also find located here the world’s oldest mountain as well as an extinct volcano on the island of Bo. If you like you can rent a traditional fisherman’s hut and stay in it for an enjoyable experience
   
Ajostedal Glacier National Park Ajostedal Glacier National Park
This stunningly beautiful national park is situated between a fjord and a glacier known as Jostedalsbreen. Hovering over 432 square kilometers it is perhaps the largest glacier in Europe and there are many smaller separate glaciers throughout the park. The frozen waterfalls are impressive and reach up to 1000 meters in height. Even the movement of the glaciers is up to 1.5 meters per day. You can enjoy a guided tour of the glacier, walk, hike and ski as well in the national park. Apart from this a trip to the Jostedal Glacier Centre and Museum is also on the cards.

The largest museum representing cultural history in Norway it is located amidst beautiful surroundings. You can enjoy fascinating exhibits which represent Norwegian heritage.

The three Viking burial vessels which are the Gokstad, the Tune and the Oseberg are on display here. These vessels date from AD 800-900. These ships are without doubt some of the best preserved Viking ships in the world. The most impressive ship is the Oseberg. It has a dragon shaped keel and is almost 20 meter long. The royal ship contains royal remains as well as a lovely collection of sleighs and household utensils.
