Stavanger

On the first of January, 1838, the municipality of Stavanger was established. On January the first, 1965 the Hetland and Madla municipalities were merged with Stavanger. The city of Stavanger Norway is situated on a peninsula which is located on the southwest coast of the country. The summer climate is pleasant in the city. A generally maritime mild temperate climate prevails in the city which is rather windy and a monthly temperature averaging above freezing.

The city is well known for the many Stavanger Norway churches which are spread across the city. The Stavanger Domkirke is the oldest cathedral which is located in the centre of the city. The new and the old combines together to form the crux feature of the city, the 4th largest in Norway. A chief attraction of the city is its various beautiful lakes which are a chief recreation area for the visitors. At a distance of 14 kilometers from the city centre is located the Stavanger Airport providing visitors easy accessibility to the city’s attractions.
