Situated on the shores of Norway's largest lake Mjøsa, Hamar is the inland capital of Hedmark County in eastern Norway. The municipality is bordered to the northwest by Ringsaker, to the north by Åmot, to the east by Løten and on the south by Stange. Hamar city Norway is named after the old farm Hamar (Norse Hamarr). The town made its mark on the world of sport as a sub-site for the 1994 Winter Olympics. The Viking Ship - one of the world's most spectacular sports halls - has become an internationally famous landmark.
