Situated on the Glama River, Elverum is a municipality in the county of Hedmark in the Southeast Norway. Elverum city Norway is bordered on the north by Åmot municipality, in the north east by Trysil municipality, in the south east by Våler and in the west by Løten. According to Elverum history Norway, the city was named after the old farm Elverum. It was badly damaged in World War II during the German invasion and bombing in April, 1940. In 1996, the municipality of Elverum received the city status, and now it has a population of more than 18,800 inhabitants, with plenty to offer for both visitors and locals. Leiret - a town with a population of over 12,000 people - is a major shopping and service center that serves an extensive region. Moreover, there are many mid-sized towns, charming small villages with bustling village centers, as well as plenty of beautiful agricultural landscapes and outstanding opportunities for recreational and leisure activities.

The Norwegian Forest Museum is a national museum that draws many visitors from across the country and outside. It shows the importance of forestry, hunting and fishing to the Norwegian history and economy. The other must visit attraction in the city is Glomdal Museum.
