Magic Ice Zoo at Madurodam

From the 15th of March to the 28th of May, 2007 you can enjoy some fine spectacular exhibition in perhaps the smallest city of the Netherlands-Madurodam, The Hague. The exhibition has been titled: ‘Magic Ice Zoo’. It is an animal kingdom in ice created by a team of twenty Chinese artists from enormous blocks of ice. You must visit all four sections where animals from different parts of the world can be seen: the Netherlands, Africa, Asia and the North as well as South Pole. Just ensure that you carry some warm clothing as the temperature in the hall is permanently maintained at -10º C.

Queen’s Day

This event will be celebrated on the 30th of April throughout the country. One can roam around the streets which resembles a giant jumble sale. There are outdoor performances to enjoy and old-Dutch games for the children to play. In many of the cities and towns the day is concluded with splendid fireworks displays.

Flower Parade

You will be able to part and enjoy the many floral street processions in Noordwijk-Haarlem. This festival will be celebrated on the 21st of April, 2007. ‘Corso’ is the name given to each procession which has a history of its own and they are all typically Dutch. The ‘Bollenstreek’ flower parade started fifty years ago is the biggest parade held in Holland. The theme in 2007 is ‘Celebration’ which will start at 9.30 a.m. from Noordwijk to travel its path of 40 kms to reach Haarlem about 9.00 a.m.

Breda Jazz Festival

The tourists can have fun at the Breda Jazz Festival at Breda and various other locations from the 17th of May to the 20th of May, 2007. This Jazz festival has been in vogue since 1971. It carries on for four days and always starts at 12 noon on Ascension Day. There are performances to be enjoyed on some 20 stages in the historical Breda city center. Admission charges are not charged for any of the outdoor concerts.

Pasar Malam Besar

Ever since 1993 more than 100,000 annual visitors have been attracted to one of the oldest festivals in Netherlands. There are two meanings attributed to the name which is literally translated from back to front. One is ‘Large Evening Market’ and the other less literal one is ‘Grand Fair’. In every subsequent year this festival which has been held in Malieveld in the centre of The Hague allows guests to enjoy a mix of trade, information, fun, food, music, dance and lectures. One will surely love this festival for it transcends all borders and language barriers. A variety of cuisine and a rich international cultural programme is presented as the Tong Tong Festival.

Open Garden Days

On the 15th, 16th and 17th of June, 2007 one can visit over 25 canal side gardens during the Open Garden Days in Amsterdam. The theme this year is special: garden houses and arbours.
