The House of Anne Frank

The famous museum is in the memory of Anne Frank and located in Amsterdam. Anne Frank had described her experiences as a Jewish teenager at the time of World War II. In the diary it has been mentioned that part of the house had been used by the Franks and the others to escape the persecution of the Nazis. Subsequently, however, the families were discovered and sent to concentration camps. The only one to survive was Otto Frank.

The Van Gogh Museum

One can enjoy a tour of this beautiful museum where one will find several hundred of the artists’ paintings and drawings. You can also view displays of work of other artists such as his friends and contemporaries.

The Rijksmuseum

Another famous attraction of Amsterdam it was opened in 1885 and is complete with a collection of 17th century Dutch Masters. One must not miss the opportunity to have a glimpse of Rembrandt’s masterpiece, the Night Watch. Also make it a point to travel around the museum’s beautiful garden which is complete with bright flowers, fountains, sculptures and summerhouses.

Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art

Here one gets an opportunity to closely trace the development in art and also find an impressive collection of modern art in Amsterdam showcased here.

Rembrandt House

This was the house where the famous painter Rembrandt lived between 1639 and 1658. Enjoy a tour of the museum watching the permanent collection of Rembrandt’s works as well as a collection of paintings of his teacher, Pieter Latman.

Red Light District (De Wallen)

Many tourists generally find their trip incomplete if they have not had a stroll around the notorious Red Light District. One will enjoy the chaotic atmosphere of the area where you will come across number of tourists fighting for space with city slickers, pimps and drug dealers. Be assured that the prostitutes of the region are part of a legal and regulated industry that includes compulsory health checks and taxable income.

Our Dear Lord in the Attic (Museum Amstelkring)

This church which had been concealed for sometime depended on clandestine activities for its survival. It was after 1888 that the building was converted to a church when the building’s lower floors housed a collection of church artifacts and paintings.

The Royal Palace (Koninklijk Paleis)

The royal residence is used for functions as the family resides in ‘The Hague’. The building can be traced back to 1648 and historically it had been designed for use as Amsterdam’s city hall. King Louis Napoleon had other plans and in 1808 turned the property into a palace.
