Tourists traveling to Mexico need to keep an update on the requirements for a Mexico Visa and Mexico Passport.

USA Citizens

The United States passport holders must hold a valid passport even though a visa may not be required for a stay for up to 180 days in case if one holds a Tourist Card/FMT form issued free of charge by airlines. As of now all the US citizens traveling from the USA to Mexico by air require a passport. This scope will be extended to all travelers who cross by land and sea as well from the 1st of January, 2008.

UK Nationals

It is mandatory for British passport holders to have a valid passport for at least six months from date of entry. In case if one is holding a Tourist Card/FMT form and a passport endorsing him/her as a British Citizen he/she will not require a visa for up to 180 days. The exemption is for 90 days in case the passport is endorsed British National (Overseas).

Canadian Citizens

The travelers from Canada must hold a valid passport or any other proof of citizenship such as an original birth certificate and an official photo ID. Incase if one’s name after marriage has changed one must carry a marriage certificate as well. In the case of visas, one does not require a visa for up to 180 days in case having a Tourist Card/FMT form issued by an airline free of charge.

Australian Citizens

Australian citizens do not require a visa for stays up to 180 days if in possession of a Tourist Card/FMT form issued by an airline. It is mandatory to hold a valid passport.

South African Citizens

The South African passport holders need a valid passport for at least one year. The tourists and business travelers both require a visa though there are no charges for a visa.

The tourists from New Zealand and Ireland do not require a visa for a tourist trip of up to 180 days, if in possession of a Tourist Card/FMT form issued by an airline. They however, must hold a valid passport.

Other citizens must hold a tourist card (FMT form), issued free of cost and available with the airlines, Mexican Consulates, Mexican International airports and border crossing points.
