It has served as the home for Emperor Maximillian and other presidents and since 1939 been converted into the Museo Nacional de Historia. Metropolitan Cathedral Don’t miss a chance to see the oldest and largest cathedral in Latin America. Its construction was begun in 1573 and continued for a period of three centuries. The interiors house many beautiful paintings and statues. Palacio Nacional The palace is home to the Mexican government. Here one can view displays of murals by Diego Rivera. It is an area of about 1200 square feet of painting on the second floor walls. You will like the history of Mexico depicted by Rivera.
