Monterrey

A visit to Mexico’s third largest city set amidst the spectacular Sierra Madre mountain region of north-west Mexico exposes you to the fact that Monterrey is more similar to the United States and less comparable to traditional Mexico. The capital city of Nuevo Leon in the north east of Mexico is a commercial and industrial powerhouse. The Cathedral and buildings that one gets to see around the main plaza are some excellent examples of modern colonial architecture merging beautifully with the old world. Just about an hour from Monterrey city is to be found stunning ecological attractions which include caves, waterfalls and the famous majestic Sierra Madre mountain range. Though similar to the USA one should avoid having a pre-conceived notion of it being a commercialized piece of the USA in Mexico. This would prevent you from enjoying an unbiased trip to experience the joys and attractions of a great city which is vibrant and confident. One will find Monterrey to be at the cutting edge of the country’s drive to develop and grow into a more affluent nation.
