Guadalajara

Guadalajara city is the capital city and is situated in the Western-Pacific region. In Spanish it is called La Perla del Occidente. Translated it means “Pearl of the West”. Guadalajara Mexico is the birthplace of Mariachi music and Charreadas. To many this is the most ‘Mexican city’. To many soccer buffs Guadalajara city is home to one of the most popular and beloved soccer teams in Mexico: Chivas Rayadas. Even from the pre-Hispanic days Guadalajara Mexico has always held pride as a place which was a kind of outpost in the Mexican west. Gradually it transformed itself into a fine tourist destination which has gained recognition worldwide. Today, it is quite well acclaimed for its rich cultural heritage, traditions, exhibits as well as the many well managed congresses and conventions. As the city has evolved around commerce, culture and entertainment it still presents itself within the same framework through which it has been able to successfully attract tourism.

Amongst the chief attractions of Guadalajara Mexico is a visit to the zoo: Paseo del Zoológico. Here you will be amazed by the well kept zoo where over 1500 animals are housed. Another attraction of Guadalajara city is the Selva Mágica (The Magic Jungle). This is a theme park for children of all ages and one can experience the varied joys of thirty-five rides including one mid sized roller coaster ride. The youngsters will love the planetarium: Centro de Ciencia y Tecnologia where science, space, astronomy and airplane exhibits are housed. For the adventure tourists the historic center walking tour is an experience by itself and one can obtain maps for the same from the tourism office. The ones who are fond of a drink can also take a tour to the nearby Tequila and learn a little about Mexico’s favorite drink.
