The best time to visit Maldives is during the months between April to December when the island glows in the balmy rays of the sun. Since this is the peak season, beaches, resorts and hotels are most generally jam packed. Maldives climate is always warm and humid; the southwest monsoon period from May to November receives maximum rainfall, storms and the slightest sun. The other monsoon period includes the northeast monsoon locally called ruvai begins from December to March, which are fairly dry and a little cooler months. Afternoon maximum temperature reaches about 30°C (86°F) all year round and minimum falls up to 20°Cs (low 70°Fs). Climate in Male Maldives is warm and tropical. The weather conditions are largely determined largely by the monsoons. The Maldives is located in the equatorial belt as a result severe storms and cyclones are exceptionally rare events. During Christmas season and New Year you will find maximum number of tourists visiting the Island. Not only is this festival period the busiest but also the most expensive. |
