South Nilandhe Atoll

Maldives, the cluster of small islands, is attracting large number of tourists from all around the world and the South nilandhe Atoll Maldives, also known as Dhaalu, is one of the atolls of the Maldives corresponding to the natural atoll of the same name. It stretches 38 km north to south and 23 km from east to west. There are total of 56 islands in the entire Atoll, out of which 8 are inhabited with a total population of 6694. Located at atoll’s southern tip, is the capital island of Kudahuvadhoo.

Some islands located to the west of this Maldives south nilandhe atoll, such as Hulhudheli and Rinbudhoo islands are well renowned for the skills of their jewellers. This atoll has become popular destination for Scuba diving with large ocean surrounding these islands and covering amazing coral formation with fishes and other marine creatures. Some of these islands have been believed to be the remains from the Buddhist period.
