North Male Atoll

The North Male Atoll, the main centre of tourism in The Maldives, has the largest number of resorts - about forty four in total. The ocean circumscribing these islands comprises amazing coral formations with scores of schools of fish, other marine life attracted to the coral and wrecks, all of which have collectively made North Male Atoll, Maldives an attractive and popular diving site. The local dhoni and speedboats are few common modes of transport for accessing the resorts and North Male Atoll hotels.

Thulusdhoo
It is one of the islands in North Male, which is considered the hub of commercial activities in the area. The main trans-shipment point for the export of dried and salted fish, known as warehouse of the State Trading Organization (STO) is inhabited on this island. Some other industries such as Coca-Cola bottling plants and boat building facility for building Dhonis are also located on this island.

Kaashidhoo
Towards the north, there lies a large agricultural island, Kaashidhoo Island, with a population of about 1800.

Gaafaru
Towards the south lies the Gaafaru Atoll, the only island on the northern side of the reef. It is marked by several shipwrecks and has a population of around 1100.
