About Japan

The earliest historical facts about Japan are recorded back to the reign of the Emperor Jimmu during the sixth century BC. It is said about Japan that the actual unification of Japan began during the Tokugawa period (1600 to 1868). During this period, the shogun retained supreme executive power, retaining Japan’s unyielding resistance to foreign influence. A western style system of administration began to take shape in the late 19th century.

It was between the 1938 and 1941 period that Japan’s forces occupied China and South-East Asia. The American counter attack on the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor slowly pushed back the Japanese over the following four years. The devastating nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki sealed the outcome forcing Japan into surrendering. There is however no concrete information about Japan brutally treating its subject population.

It is however to Japan’s credit that it has overseen exceptional economic growth since 1950 making it one of the world’s most powerful economies. Tokyo dazzles with bright lights and high-tech gadgetry. To learn more about Japan you have to see first hand the bustling cities burst with skyscrapers, bullet trains, trendy nightlife and extreme consumerism. In spite of all the brashness in its modernity, the facts about Japan still reveal that there beats an ancient heart and it is still the kingdom of the exquisite art of the geisha and the skill of the sumo wrestler.
