About Italy Italy Cities Italy Hotels Italy Travel Guide

Naples Italy is one of the largest cities in southern Italy and in terms of population it is the third most populated city in Italy. It is situated around the Bay of Naples. The City of Naples is a popular destination for foreign visitors. With sub-tropical climate and white sandy beaches it boosts a perfect getaway location or winter resting place.

With miles of pristine Gulf beaches and gentle surf, the City of Naples is a wonderful beach destination, but that's not the only attraction. You can have excellent fishing, both salt and fresh water, within a short drive or boat ride from the City, as well as on the Naples Pier where fishing is free for all residents and visitors since the City of Naples maintains a fishing license for the Pier. The City of Naples has wonderful lodging and dining, as well as world-famous shopping and sightseeing opportunities.

Shopping
The city has emerged as a big commercial center in recent time. The main shopping area is around the Piazza dei Martiri, along Via Chiaia, Via Roma and pedestrian-only Via Calabritto. This shopping center in central Naples has a wide variety of retail outlets trading in the four glass-roofed arcades. The lively and vibrant markets in Naples are also a great place to find a bargain, full of atmosphere and market banter.

Getting around
If you want to reach Naples by plane, the biggest airport is Capodichino (Naples) that allows you to reach easily the regional capital and, from there, to travel to the most important islands. Ferries and hydrofoils leave from Pozzuoli and allow you to reach Ischia and Capri, where you can also stay for some days.
