Located in the main square of city is the famous basilica of San Mercuriale. Built in the name of Aurelio Saffi, this structure is one of the most ancient monuments around. Here in this square you would also find Palazzo del Podestà which is a typical Romanic-Gothic architectural style. The building’s façade is adorned with three distinct colored ogives. Yet another ancient monument in Forli Italy is the Palazzo del Municipio which was once the residence of Ordelaffi family line. Just a spitting distance from the church is a striking bell tower and a quaint cloister of 15th century. In Piazza Ordelaffi is the Santa Croce cathedral called the Duomo that was built in the year 1425. The structure was knocked down in the 19th century and re- constructed in the neoclassic design. If you move towards the south of the city you will come across the di Caterina Sforza also known as the Rocca di Ravaldino that was erected in the 14th century.
