The tourists are generally impressed by the most important building of the square, the Castello Estense which has for its surroundings a moat with four towers. One of the finest palaces of the area is the Palazza dei Diamanti which acquires its name from diamond points into which the façade’s stone blocks are cut. A typical medieval feast which visitors can see on the last Sunday of May is the Palium of St. George.
The great exhibitions staged at the Palazzo dei Diamanti are an attraction not worth missing out on. Some of the attractions are the façade of cathedral, the stately Este Castle, and renaissance frescoes of Palazzo Schiafanoia. The Palazzo del Municipio and the cathedral of San Giorgio nearby are chief attractions of Ferrara Italy as well.
