The currency of Indonesia's is the rupiah (IDR), abbreviated as Rp. The largest banknote available is Rp100, 000, which may be equivalent to US$10. Next in the sequence are Rp 50,000, Rp 20,000, Rp 10,000, Rp 5,000 and finally Rp 1,000. US dollar is the second currency that is widely used in Indonesia and will be accepted by anyone readily. Although these are acceptable for investments and for larger purchases, do not offer dollar if you are buying snacks from a road side kiosk. Many hotels in Indonesia quote rates in dollars, but they accept payment in Rupiah. Singapore dollars are also commonly accepted, especially in more touristy regions.
