Raigarh

Raigarh is well known for Dhokra Casting. It is an art of producing metalware by the process of hot wax casting. The Raigarh district is a producer of two types of silk - tasar silk and malburry silk. Based an kosa silk, many villagers are running units for producing kosa sarees and dress materials of export quality. Chhattisgarh State largely consists of plateaus streaked with high range of Satpuras in the North, the river Mahanadi and its tributaries in the Central Plains and the Bastar Plateau in the South.

It is about 18 Kms from the District Head quarters. It has a natural water source. According to History, Bhagwan Ram once had been here during his Vanwas, and had drank water from the water source. Hence the name Ram Jharna. It is a very good picnic spot.

It is situated in Sarangarh Tehsil. It is spread over 278 Sq. Kms. It is a natural home for many rare wild animals like tigers, beers, etc. It is about 60 Kms. from the District HeadQuarters.

This Samaroh is being jointly organised by Ustad Allaudin Khan Sangeet Academy and Chakradhar Lalit Kala Kendra, with the co-operation of District Administration to commomenate the memory of Great King and Musician Maharaja Chakradhar Singh. Maharaja Chakradhar Singh was one of the Greatest Tabla Player and Dancer.
