This is the sacred cave under a mass of loose boulders where Shiva is believed to have hidden himself from the demon king Bhasmasur. It resembles the matted locks of Lord Shiva, hence the name.


This cave is 30 meter long and water is always seeping inside the cave. The source of this water has been traced to a waterfall. In the middle of the cave is a small pool of water. Thousands of pilgrims descend on the Mahadev Temple , during the Shivratri Mela.
