Mukundgarh is a part of the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, known for the evidence it bears of its medieval past. It has a popular handicrafts market and popular havelis with stories of Krishna and Sukhdev. The 18th century fort is now a hotel. Worth visiting are the Kanoria and Ganeriwala havelis. This is the town where the finest of Shekhwati's frescoes can be seen. Its havelis still bear witness to the rich and prosperous Marwari era of the 19th century.

The fort of Mukundgarh was founded in mid-18th century by Raja Mukund Singh. The fort, built in a traditional style, spreads over two acres of land. It has several courtyards, overhanging balconies, arched windows and the framed frescoes for which the entire Shekawati region is well known. Apart from the fort, the village has many painted hovels. The fort has been recently renovated keeping the traditional look of the palace intact.

Worth visiting are the Kanoria and Ganeriwala havelis in Mukundgarh. The wall paintings in havelies were largely based on mythological theme, depicting local legengs, animals, hunting and wrestling scenes and a glimpse of everyday life.
