Fatehpur Sikri, a city in Agra district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is predominantly built in Red Sandstone. It was built by Great Mughal Emperor, Akbar, who planned this city as his capital but shortage of water compelled him to vacate it. This city is one of the finest examples of Mughal architectural splendor at its height and best example of culmination of Hindus and Muslim architecture. It is really the city of interest of historians.

Some say it to be a copy of mosque in Mecca and ahs design of Persian and Hindu architecture. Its entrance is through marvelous gate, popularly known as Buland Dharwaja. To the north of the mosque, there is dargah of Sheikh Salim Chishti, who generally bless the childless women. The history of Fatehpur Sikri tells that even King Akbar was blessed with three sons after his blessings.

Not only has this but Fatehpur Sikri had many other important buildings for travelers.
