Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh is 115 kms northeast of Udaipur, Chittorgarh is a story of saga of valor, tenacity and sacrifice. Chittorgarh was sacked three times and its defenders had to make the supreme sacrifice. The Fort of Chittorgarh is a treasure trove of history and offers to the traveler an insight into the life of the Great Rajput rulers, who laid down their lives fighting a superior enemy instead of leading a life of submission under them.

The fort is located on a hill that dominates the modern township of Chittor. It is a fine example of the Rajput style of architecture.

The next destination after fort is the magnificent Vijay Stambh. The imposing 37 meter high structure was covered with exquisite sculpture of Hindu deities and depicting episodes from the two great epics- Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Rana Kumbha Palace where Rani Padmini and other women committed Jauhar. It was the most massive monument in the fort of Chittaur.
