Asansol

Asansol is the second largest city in West Bengal that is famous for coal mining. It holds the population of 1,067,369 with average literacy rate of 73%. The increasing growth and prosperity have made it a leader in other activities. As a result, both the Burnpur cricket club and Burnpur United club flourished. Likewise, many cultural activities and clubs started in the city.

Asansol, India has steel and coal in bulk quantity. It is in the heart of the mining industry zone. Many of the shops to sell daily life necessities are on the Grand Trunk road in the market area. The city has well connected system of transport, railways, roadways and airways. Within the city, one can easily find auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws and hired cars to roam around in the city.

There are many places for tourists to see around, which had given foothold to emergence of hotels in Asansol. These offer comfortable stay and cater to the need of tourists with their facilities and amenities. Some of the places around Asansol are Nehru Park, Kalyaneswari temple, Panchet Dam, Maithon Dam, and Joychandi Pahar, a famous picnic spot with some recreational activities. In addition, bar facility is also easily availed at some important points.

Asansol is soon going to provide space to IISCO steel plant, which will be abuzz with commercial activities.
