Adoni

Adoni, the municipality headquarters and commercial town in the Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, is famous for its cloth and gold market. It is approximately 225km from Hyderabad and 494 km from Madras by rail. Once the medieval Vijaynagar kingdom had a strong foothold over this district, but today there is a textile industry. It also houses a deserted hill fort that was important seat of government in Islamic times.

Adoni, India was ruled by Yadavas in 16th century and was known as yadavagiri, which was later replaced by Adavani and then to Adoni.
