Selfoss

Selfoss Iceland started to gain mileage as a developing town from 1891 onwards when a suspension bridge was constructed across the Olfusa River. The year 1930 saw the establishment of a co-operative shop and dairy which started the progress of the city. The livelihood of the people of the city is mainly based on services to the agricultural surroundings and small industries. The role of commerce and tourism is also quite prominent. The Selfoss weather is conducive to the day tours for which the town is an excellent centre. The town area has some fine places of interest in the region.

It helps that the distance of the town from the capital is approximately 57 kilometers.
