The Gibraltar Museum
Located in the heart of the city, the Gibraltar Museum became operational in the year 1930. The exhibits cover a gamut of subjects ranging from geological origins of the Rock to the current scenario. St Michael's Cave

The Shrine of Our Lady of Europe
Located at the southern end of The Rock, this shrine was at first a mosque and then in the year 1462 was transformed into a chapel by the Spaniards. Erected around fifteenth century, the statue of Our Lady of Europe and Patroness of Gibraltar is a wood carved polychromized figure. The shrine was once looted by the pirate Red Beard but its most precious asset - the 15th century sculpture of the Virgin and Child - is still venerated there. The statue was then shifted to the site of the actual Shrine at Europa Point on the 7th October 1967. |
