It is always good to be aware of the document formalities before you make a plan to book a ticket for flying to Germany.

Passport: Passport valid for at least three months after the last day of the intended visit required by all except the citizens of European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland who hold valid national ID card.

Visa: Like in other countries of the world you need a Germany Visa to enter its premise. Of course, you are required to apply for obtaining a visa for which you should have the following details:

 
Request for visa:

  • If you are from the European Union or one under an agreement with Germany (Honduras,Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland,USA )then you do not need a visa.
  • All other countries’ inhabitants need a visa for Germany to visit it.
  • You are required to apply in either the German embassy or consulate in your country
  • Citizens of EU must apply at the foreign office.
  • Your ID card, residence proof 4 identity photographs and a certificate from the employer are the prerequisites for applying. The German residence permit is valid for 5 years.
 
Types of Visa:

There are different types of Visa for Germany:

  • Tourist visa—this cannot be transformed into a student visa.

For foreign students and candidates to a study vacancy there are three types of visa:

  • A visa for German courses, which cannot turn into a student visa afterwards;
  • A visa for applicants to a studies vacancy, valid before the university confirmation of the admission. Once the approval is granted, the student must drop in the Foreign Office to ask for the corresponding student visa; the student visa, valid for a year.
 
Types of visa and cost
  • Tourist: Single-entry (up to 30 days): £18 (adults), £9 (minors under 18 years),(up to 90 days): £21; £11.
  • Multiple-entry (up to 90 days): £25, £13. Multiple-entry (for one year up to 90 days): £35, £18.
