German History is quite old to be explored deeply. It starts from 25 five hundred years old settlement of tribal people along the shores of Baltic Sea. After a gap of 400 years, they moved inland and develop the modern day Germany. German ancestors were characterized by three major groups. Worried by the potential threat of the warlike tribes, the Romans began a campaign to annex and subdue the German peoples. However, this tactic could not succeed after the defeat of a provincial governor.

History of Germany witnessed a lot of changes during second and sixth centuries. The tribes moved to resettle elsewhere during the chaos which occurred due to fall of Roman Empire. Later, many new kingdoms came into existence but in vain. Several dynasties dominated at one point or another during medieval German history from the sixth century through the thirteenth century. Amongst them were Merovingian Dynasty, the Carolingian Dynasty, the Saxon Dynasty, the Salian Dynasty, and the Hohenstaufen Dynasty. By the end of thirteenth century, Hapsburg Empire took over the throne.

Germany is known for the interesting proclamations, Golden Bull of 1356. It was formed by Emperor Charles IV, which provided constitutional foundation that lasted till lit got dissolved. Martin Luther, a professor of theology in University of Saxony is one of the most famous ancestors of German history. He wrote countless religious theses which exposed papal corruption and argued for extensive reform of the church. This turmoil crushed the Germany’s religious unity Martin Luther is regarded as the founder of the Protestant Reformation.

The German Empire Second Reich was formed in compromise. This all happened as a result of King of Prussia seeking for the unification of Germany for which he required acceptance as Kaiser (Emperor) by the rulers of those German states he had subjugated. One of the World War I aftermaths was renunciation of Kaiser and thereby German republic came into being. This did not last long and raise of Hitler resulted in almost a doom of Germany. The country split in half serving as a boundary between the east with the Soviets and communism, and the west with the Allies and democracy. It continued to be so for 50 years. In 1989, the infamous wall was destroyed to unite Germany once again.
