Passau Germany is a city complete with beautiful settings and is known as ‘The City on Three Rivers’. One can witness this beautiful setting at the junction where the Danube, Inn and Ilz Rivers converge. There is a small park very near to the junction point of the three rivers where one can spend some good time moving about. One will enjoy a walking tour of the old city where you will learn about the history of the city and also see the markers on the buildings which have been caused by the numerous floods of the three rivers. Passau German history is all about the very wealthy, powerful and independent Bishops. The Bishops of this sovereign were independent of the emperor. The city has a famous landmark known as the St. Stephan’s Cathedral. The Cathedral has Europe’s largest church organ with 17,774 pipes and 233 registers. The travelers and other visitors are simply amazed at the sounds produced by this organ which certainly is very impressive. Every song that you hear will be a bit more somber than the one before.
Most tourists will love the exploration of the old town with its narrow streets and quaint shops. On the banks of the Danube one will find a number of river ships docked. |
