Quimper set at the intersection of the rivers Odet and Steir, it is Brittany’s oldest city and the capital of Cornouaille. The city is an ideal place for visitor’s who are looking for nothing more from a few days' break than cobbled streets to wander through, a lazy river to sail gently down, or a wide selection of cafes and bars to enjoy. Much of the regions history is influenced by the ancient Celts who came here from Cornwall to escape the Romans. This has been brought alive in the folklores, which are truly fascinating. In addition, Quimper is also a great cultural centre. One will come across theatres, exhibitions, galleries, concerts, Breton museum, pottery museum and a Fine Arts museum. The festival of Cornouaille is the event of the year, which takes place during the third week of July. The festival witnesses over 1,000 musicians and 3,000 dancers in Breton costumes gracing the event.
