Blois France is a very historical city due to its celebrated past. The city is famous for its fabulous Chateau, which is one of the Chateaux de la Loire. For architectural buffs, it is an experience as it as it has brought together four distinct styles; medieval, Gothic, Renaissance and Classical, which are specific to each of the kings who lived in this monument. Today, the Chateau Royal de Blois is an architectural pearl of France. The city is a living piece of history, which receives half a million visitors yearly, largely to visit its chateau. The city has cobblestone streets and restored white houses with slate roofs and redbrick chimneys.
Blois has retained most of its royal grandeur, located right in the heart of some of the Loire's finest chateaux. The Chateau de Blois fascinates the visitor’s, which was the home to French Kings and Queens for over four centuries. During the France-England war was going on, an event took place that firmed the future of the county of Blois, and the ancient fortress became a royal castle. The end of 14th century saw the county of Blois sold to the son of the king of France Charles V, to Prince Louis of Orleans. Louis of Orleans lived in the castle for 25 years. His grandson, Louis XII. became king of France in 1498 and decided to move to Blois. Blois France became a royal town and the capital of the Kingdom and developed under Louis XII and Francis I.
Another of the highlight of the city, just opposite the Chateau de Blois is the House of Magic. It is a wonderful world of automatons, optical illusions, shadow pantomimes and hallucinoscopes. Then there is a lovely superb park overlooking Loire, where a walk is pleasant among the gardens of the former bishop's palace. Moreover, the old town of Blois remains an ideal place for walks of charm, either with foot or in the horse-drawn carriage.
