Salo city in the province of Western Finland is quite an exciting part of the Finland region. The city covers an approximate area of 143.82 square kilometers out of which an approximate area of 0.43 square kilometers is inland water. The word Salo means ‘uninhabited forest’ in Finnish. It started out as a small town in the 16th century and was for long a center of rural commerce. It got official incorporation in the year 1960. The city owes its main claim to fame today to the Nokia cellular phone developing and manufacturing plants. The night life in Salo is quite an amazing attraction for the tourists.

The city has an art museum which has been converted from a 100 year old locomotive shed. There is a portion of the building which has been converted to serve the needs of exhibition halls. The Salo weather is quite pleasant and comfortable throughout the year. The museum serves the needs and requirements of a variety of guests in many ways. It houses an art reference library wherein the visitors will find a wide selection of Finnish and international art magazines for their referral.
