Estonia Climate

 

The ideal time to visit Estonia is May through September when day time temperature ranges from 70s F or 20-25 degree Celsius with nights ranging from 4-15 degree Celsius or 40-60 F. Despite its northern latitude, Estonia's climate is relatively mild because of its proximity to water. The coldest months are January and February, when temperatures are in the 20s F/-7 to -1 C, although they can drop to -20 F/-29 C. Climate in Estonia during summer is mild, the visitors are advised to take along at least a sweater for the cool evenings. Generally moderate, but somewhat cool and damp. Summer is warm, while spring and autumn is serene Winter, which lasts from November to mid March, can be very cold. Rainfall is distributed throughout the year with the heaviest rainfall in August. Heavy snowfalls are common in the winter months. Climate of Estonia is somewhat moderate as compared to northern latitude but winters are dotted with heavy rainfall.

The humid and temperate climate of Estonia contrasts sharply from the climates of regions to the east in Russia at the same latitude.

The country lies in the path of air masses borne by cyclonic winds that originate in the North Atlantic Ocean and carry warm air in winter and cool air in summer. The northern and western coastal areas tend to be milder than the country's inland regions, while the eastern and southeastern regions tend to have a continental climate.

Required Clothing
Cotton or cooler clothes are worn during the summer months. Warmer clothes are required during winter. Waterproof clothing meaning rain coats are advisable all over year.
