About England England Cities England Hotels England Travel Guide

Events in England are quite a lot many for them to be enumerated in one place. Quickbooker.com has however tried to drive home the essence that you will not fall short on entertainment on a tour to England as the current events in England are held throughout the calendar year.

Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day traditions have tales associated with romance activities on Valentine’s Day which falls on February 14th each year. This can be considered to be the most important of the current events in England for the young love birds. This is the day when the birds choose their mates. It is estimated that approximately over 500 million pounds are spent on cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts for Valentine’s Day.

Easter
Easter is more than about holidays and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs. It is the oldest event celebrated for the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. The message of new life is the high point of the year. Easter is one of the events in England which is called a ‘moveable event’ because though it comes in the month of April, the date is fixed according to the moon each year.

Yorkshire Events
One can book for shows in Opera North, northern Ballet and Hull Truck Theatre Company. The drama at Bradford’s Alhambra and the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds is dynamic. The Leeds International Concert Season is one of the highlights of the fine classical events. Be sure to not miss the Pennine brass bands. The visitors can also explore the outstanding collections in the Ferens Gallery.

Christmas Events in England
One will be especially delighted by the numerous events designed to get the tourists into the groove of the festive spirit in England. As a build up to Christmas many events are held.

London’s biggest free annual event
This event is held on the banks of the River Thames. There is the Frost Fair which is set against the backdrop of Shakespeare’s Globe and Tate Modern. It starts with a lantern procession at 4 pm. During this time, Bankside is transformed into a winter wonderland. One will find a bustling line-up of stalls selling food and gifts, along side ice sculpting and entertainment.

These and many other events in England are mostly based on customs and traditions. Almost all of them have very long histories. Some are funny and some are strange. But they're all interesting and are all part of the English way of life. Being the birthplace of Newton, Darwin, Shakespeare and the Beatles among others, one can well imagine the rich history of current events in England. There are events in England which centre on football and England is also home to the world’s richest football club – Manchester United. England has many festivals and special events but the two main ones forever ingrained in the events calendar are Easter and Christmas.
