Oxford England is a city and district, located in central England. The city Oxford was first included as a town in 1837, and was given its name after the town of Oxford, England in the hopes of securing Mississippi's first university. This became a reality in 1841, and the University of Mississippi opened its doors to students in 1848 and since then it has become a landmark of Oxford and the heart of the South. The city’s development in the coming times made it an attractive place to live in.

Though, being famous as the site for Oxford University, the city even features some important industries, including the manufacture of automobiles and steel products. The city is also known as The City of Dreaming Spires, a term given by Matthew Arnold in reference to the pleasant architecture of the university buildings.
