Oxford England is a city and district, located in central England. The city Oxford was first included as a town in 1837, and was given its name after the town of Oxford, England in the hopes of securing Mississippi's first university. This became a reality in 1841, and the University of Mississippi opened its doors to students in 1848 and since then it has become a landmark of Oxford and the heart of the South.
