East Midlands Airport is an airport in the East Midlands of England near castle Donington in Leicestershire. It lies between the cities of Leicester, Derby and Nottingham all within a 30 mile radius of the airfield.
The owner of the airport is Manchester Airports Group. The group is controlled by the ten metropolitan regions of Greater Manchester and is the largest UK owned airport group.
Historically the airport was once a part of royal air force station. Now in 2004 East Midlands airport was renamed as Nottingham East Midlands Airport, was again renamed as Nottingham East Midlands airport, the airport is situated at Leicestershire present in Derby postal area and the closest city being Derby. Since many people don’t recognize the word East Midland as they are ignorant of the geography of the England. Therefore the name ‘Nottingham’ was more popular amongst tourists since it is more famous among people.
For transportation the airport has diligent and state of the art connections to the taxis network or four wheelers.Eventhough access by train is much easier comfortable and cheap. The nearest station is Long Eaton but the Airline Shuttle service links the airport directly to Loughborough railway station and Derby.
